Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone , first edition, second print, hardback, Bloomsbury 1997. Book is fine, in collector’s condition. Book is firm and square, with no lean. Corners remain sharp; spine tip is firm, foot of spine lightly pushed. Spine has not been sunned and retains its full colour. No knocks or bumps to the boards. Former bookseller’s price tag on cover. Internally, the book has no writing or scribbles in it, with entirely clean endpapers. The book does not appear to have been read; no tears or dog-eared pages. Toning to the page block; toning to the half-title page and title page. The book was published without a jacket (the jacket first appeared on the third print). Various corrections were made to the first print, including the spelling errors on the rear panel (the second’o’ in’Philosopher’s’ was added and’Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’ was corrected). The extra’wand’ error on p53 was also corrected. Extremely hard to find in this condition. With the first edition, first print hardback of this title being hard (and prohibitively expensive) to find in fine condition, the second print is increasingly a more affordable alternative for the collector and investor.
